The mistakes
After different "small" jobs, I have spend four years in the French Railways as a safety officer and switchman, and one year
as sports instructor. |
These times were
interesting, just because they helped me to understood I have made a
big mistake interrupting my education.

Back to education
In 1981, I make a sound come back to education.
8 years during which I have studied in 5 different French universities in Paris:
- all the psychology fields (with a main focus on cognitition and human error),
- statistics,
- Information technology and data
analysis,
- psychophysiology, neuro-psychology,
- and even sexology.

I received a PhD in
Cognitive Psychology from the Université Paris V René
Descartes in September 1999, with a study regarding how drivers
build mental maps when they have to move in large urban cities.
During my PhD years, I found the spark to start my dream of always: flying.
I got a Private Pilot Licence in France after 3 months of intense training, sharing my time with lectures and researches at the university. Then, I left France for the United States, where I got a FAA Commercial Pilot Licence. Afterwards, I had to come back to France. |

Joining the skies
I left university in July 1999, to become an airline
pilot.
First for the now bankrupted Air Bretagne (Vannes, France), as a manager and pilot on B100 and B200 on schedule charter flights and regular domestic routes in Europe.
In April 2000, I joined a small cargo company Taxi Air Fret (Toussus-le-Noble, France) as a manager and pilot flying B90 and B99 throughout western and eastern Europe.
In September 2000, I was hired by R-Lines (subsidiary of Regional CAE, which is a subsidiary of Air France) in Angers-Marcé (France), as a manager and pilot flying B1900D on scheduled passengers flights. Six months later I had been appointed captain on the B1900D.
Unfortunately, this company bankrupted in december 2003.
In 2004, I decided to get a FAA ATPL with a B737 type rating. |
In 1999, I was certified flight
instructor (JAA FI). In 2004, I got the Multiengine Instructor (JAA CRI) and the Instrument Instructor Qualifications (JAA IRI) in 2005.
Providing some flight instruction gave me the opportunity to improve my skills and experiences. Since 1999, I always instructed in Flight Training Organizations until 2006.
Beside every pilot positions, I always was part of the companies management as:
- safety manager, and / or
- CRM manager, and / or
- assistant training
manager.
Finally, since 1992, I have been consultant in human factors and aviation safety for almost 15 years, mainly with IFSA, but also with several organizations |

Leaving France for Asia
In February 2006, I joined Dragonair as a Manager Air Safety. Because the company merged with Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong, I left this position in October 2006.
I was hired as a pilot by Hong Kong Airlines in February 2007. I prepared the company for IOSA preliminary Audit. Then, I have been sent to KAL-Alteon training center in Incheon (South Korea) where I got a B737NG type rating.
I flew scheduled international routes to China, Vietnam, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and and charters to Korea. I also flew on a regularly basis for the Chinese carrier Hainan Airlines wet lease domestic flights in mainland China.
In early 2008, Hong Kong Airlines appointed me as Manager Human Factors, in charge of developping and organizing an in house very innovative company CRM program.
In March 2009, I got the CAAC ATPL with a B737 type rating, because the company was planning to transfer some pilot in Shanghai, flying for the cargo operator Yangtze River Express Airlines (website in Chinese only). As matter of fact, I never joined Yangtze River Express Airlines even though I have completed all the process.
At the end of June 2009 I resigned from Hong Kong Airlines because the economical situation imposed by the company. Early this month, I was offered to join a rising company in Indonesia, and I also was selected as a Captain A320 for Air Asia. |
In July 2009, I left Honk Kong to join PT Lion Mentari Airlines (Lion Air) in Indonesia.
I have been hired as part time B737-900ER pilot and part time Safety Manager, bringing some expertise to the company to develop and implement its safety standards.
